The Isolation Episodes

As the world settles itself into this strange time Steve and I use the magic of the interwebs to reach out to each other in from our respective game bunkers to keep the conversation going. This page will expand as we go and we will try and keep things up to date for links.

Board Game Geek has a great list going of what different publishers are offering for everybody stuck at home check it out here.

Episode 1 has us trying to deal with some technical issues as we talk about the state of the hobby in this time of crisis. What some publishers have been doing to try and help out and what people can do to keep themselves amused. Mostly we chat about print and play games from different publishers and from PNP Arcade and elsewhere.

Episode 2

We do settle into the new way of doing things a bit better in episode 2. Our technical issues have been mostly smoothed out and the conversation continues with chats about what we are playing with our kids and what new things we have heard publishers have been up to in during this continuing time of social distancing.

I would like to appologize for doing such a poor job of describing the Discord platform. Discord is so much more than my weak discription made it out to be. Discord is not a games only chat room app, it is designed for all types of groups from familys to clubs, from classes to conventions. I mention that it is gaming focused and while there is a huge population of gaming groups etc using Discord it is not a “gaming only” web app.

Free PnP Games from Us

We decided we would add what we could to the mix as well. Here are 2 games that Mitch put together that you are welcome to try out at home if you want. Both are a bit experimental. The first, Snake Dice, is a solo game where you roll your dice and try and snake them into the grid keeping them all attached in a line and trying to fill as much of the gris as possible. The second is a 2 player game where you are trying to break through your opponents firewalls to steal their precious data. Mmm precious data. If you try them out drop us a note to let us know what you thought.

Corrections

  1. In episode two I start things off the right foot by saying Meeple about 3 times in a row. I meant People. People should have been in there. Ah well.
  2. The Exit game we couldn’t remember was The Abandoned Cabin
  3. I did fix it a bit while talking but I accidentally called the Indie Game Alliance by the wrong name. Sorry.
  4. So many tiny mistakes. I mentioned the Space Cowboys web site and gave the completely wrong URL. It is not even a dot com. They are a publisher from France and their website is a dot FR.

About The Author

Mitch

Mitch is a graphic designer with what could be referred to as a compulsion to design and redesign things that may or may not need it. Truly a jack of all trades and master of none (well maybe the one) he will retrofit your kitchen table or redesign your player mats. He can’t help himself. Mitch sometimes jokes that he was "Raised according to Hoyle" His grandmother instilled a love of games in him early on that has continued to grow year over year.
